How long is the day?
At Akiva, we begin our day with morning assembly at 7:55am. Our students eat lunch between 11:30-12:30pm with a morning snack around 10am. Our day ends at 3:30pm and our after school programs run until 5:30pm. From November to March we have 2:30pm dismissal on Fridays.
Is there transportation available?
Yes. Akiva School partners with local independent school (MBA, St. Cecilia/Overbrook, and Harpeth Hall) to provide a comprehensive morning transportation program with over 14 pick-up locations around the city.

Is there an option for after school activities?
Yes. There are numerous after school opportunities on our campus including but not limited to STEM learning, competitive Cross Country and Track teams, a dance team, and art clubs. The after school offerings change on a quarterly basis. In addition, the Gordon Jewish Community Center offers Planet Kid on a daily basis

What is the average class size?
Is there a dress code?
Yes. Akiva has a uniform of white and navy collared tops, embroidered with the Akiva logo, and navy or khaki bottoms. Girls are not required to wear skirts or dresses. Boys are required to wear kippot (yarmukes) during Tefillah, Judaic Studies, and lunch.
Is the school accredited?
Yes. Akiva School is accredited by AdvancED, one of the largest non-profit accreditation organizations in the world. We are also the only elementary school in Nashville that holds a STEAM certification (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math) through AdvancED and the only Jewish Day School in the world with this certification.
